International Women of Courage Celebration Campaign
Highlighting global women leaders through a targeted digital storytelling campaign. A social media campaign designed to elevate the stories of twelve International Women of Courage awardees and build momentum for AWIU’s annual celebration dinner.
The Challenge
Each year, the U.S. Department of State recognizes twelve extraordinary women with the International Women of Courage (IWOC) Award. In partnership with the State Department, American Women for International Understanding hosts the annual IWOC Celebration Dinner in Los Angeles to honor these leaders and raise funds to support their continued work.
AWIU needed a way to generate excitement for the event while ensuring each awardee’s story received meaningful attention. The goal was to raise awareness of the celebration while highlighting the courage, leadership, and global impact of each honoree.
What We Built
& Daughters designed and executed a focused social media campaign leading up to the event. The campaign centered on introducing each of the twelve awardees through a series of posts that highlighted their achievements, advocacy, and leadership.
• A social media storytelling series featuring each IWOC awardee
• Custom-designed graphics to create a cohesive visual campaign
• Strategic post scheduling in the weeks leading up to the celebration
• Copywriting that translated complex global advocacy work into accessible stories

Craft Decisions That Mattered
Story-first approach. Rather than focusing primarily on the event itself, the campaign centered on the women being honored, making their leadership the heart of the narrative.
Consistent visual identity. Custom graphics created a recognizable visual series across platforms, helping audiences immediately identify the IWOC content as part of a larger campaign.
Momentum over a single announcement. Instead of one promotional push, the campaign unfolded over multiple posts, allowing each awardee to be individually highlighted while building anticipation for the celebration dinner.
& Daughters stepped in at the last minute to help us with a social media campaign and worked with us to formulate an effective strategy. Their posts led to more attendance and visibility. The work was bold, professional, and high quality—flexible, creative, on budget, and on time.”
